JR: Low Back and Left Leg Pain: Patient waiting PT Eval (2-4-19)

  • Hello Jean. Sorry for the delay in getting you this program.
  • Below are some movements that I want you to try gently. If any of these movements cause pain try to move just short of that pain and do them very slowly. Any person I see with pain, especially severe pain, has difficulty in many positions but we are usually able to find a position that they can move in SHORT of pain and that ends up helping them.
  • I am going to give you some movements below: I want you to try movement #1. Try to do 5-10 reps 2-3x/day. If that feels fine. You can add movement #2. If you have any issues, let me know. Follow the sequence below and let me know if you have any questions
  • Movement #1: Counter Stretch
  • Movement #2: Reach Overhead on your back
    • Legs can be elevated on arm rest of couch or just keep knees band while lying down
  • Movement #3: Seated slide
    • Go each direction as far as you can but short of pain
  • Movement#4: Leg lift lying over bed/table
  • Movement #5: Leg Rock out to the side lying on your back
  • Movement #6: squat at sink
    • DO THIS EVERYOTHER DAY
    • 5-15x
  • Movement #7: Self massage with the cane
